Remembering 1972: Martial Law and Macoy

[Now Playing: Wonder Wall - Oasis]

(I should have posted this entry yesterday but my internet connection got crazy.. there is a saying though.. "better late than never")

Is it a sign? or just a mere coincidence? Yesterday, news broke out that Thailand is under martial law. Today, we look back 34 years when the late Ferdinand Marcos declared Philippines under martial law. I don’t want to talk about the Thais for as what I’ve read.. They are doing a great job putting a bad government down.

Let’s talk about Marcos, I don’t know the real scoop about what really happened (I can’t I don’t and I won’t trust the media.) and I haven’t experienced how it is to live under his regime. I was born one year before Marcos’ government fall due to the unity of “some” lefties and not by the “all” Filipinos (This is my personal belief so back off!).

If I say the declaration of martial law was a sad day for Filipinos, I would be one sided. I’m not going for pro or anti martial law. I just want to press some points that my late grandfather told me “If I were to choose between the present government and Marcos’ regime. I’d opt for the later.. National leadership goes worse to worst from president to president.” He has a point, the only thing dirty about the Marcos regime was the unnecessary and unreasonable violence. Human right violations and stuffs. But hell no! What is the difference with the way our government is being run today? Read the newspapers.. Media people being butchered, political killings.. I guess this government is far worse than the Marcos administration.

Economy: My folks said “If Philippines is still under Marcos regime, economy won’t be as worse or even close to the economical crisis were experiencing today.” True, Philippines came to the point where we were hailed as a great nation, a first class country, that is, under the leadership of Marcos. True, despite the promises of our first lady president to the present lady president whose ruining.. I mean.. running this country, no one has ever been close to rebuilding the status of our country. Forever third world? I hope not.

The Arroyo administration, smallest biggest bitch I know. If there is someone whose “pinaka-makapal na mukha sa balat ng lupa” that would be our beloved president Arroyo. Every time I switch-on the television, or read the papers where she is featured, I want to puke, she makes me urr.. The best effigy I saw, representing her would be the “tuko”.. “Tignan mo nga naman ang gagawin ng isang tao just to hold on to power.” Pro administration people, don’t hate me. I tried to dig deep to my sensitive side, I reasoned out with myself, why don’t I see the bright side of this corrupt government. I am sorry.. I don’t see any reason why this bitch be given a chance. When she took oath in Edsa, haven’t you heard the “boos” from people? “Bakit kasi pinagbigyan pa?” If I mention one by one the reasons why president Arro”v”o is worse than Marcos. It would take years.. so.. maybe next time. Bottom line, I hate her.. And if I were an assassin.. I won’t think twice to hug her with a vest fully loaded with c-4 on. nyahahaha.

Marcos love the people.. If he was an asshole.. he could easily annihilate the people whining due to personal issues.. It was martial law.. and still how come these people were tolerated to march down the streets? Remember People Power 3? Many were wounded.. a few died.. bloodshed.. And we weren’t even under martial law.. Fuck you Arroyo! And the main reason or the root of People power 1.. Why? are you sure that Marcos was the one who initiated the killing of Ninoy Aquino? “Innocent ‘till proven guilty.” Lefties would do anything just to stir the people’s hearts and minds for their own agenda. “Ang mga tao kasi nag papagamit.. “I don’t believe in people power’s power anymore.”

Marcos is up there somewhere.. I wish he isn’t in tears or worse, laughing at us for what we did. If I am Marcos this is what I’d say.. “You brought me down, now look at yourselves.. Is this the change you’ve been dreaming of? The change that made you march to overthrow my government? Pathetic.”

This Nation is sick.. A cancer.. Hopeless.. So what’s to be done? First, find a great leader. Second, cooperate (Nation building couldn’t be done without a Nation and a nation is mainly composed of people.) Third, be vigilant, don’t go out to streets for the sake of having fun and street parties (Ganyan ang nangyayari tuwing may people power.) Wag kayo pagagamit sa interes ng mangilan-ngilan.

“I hope you guys read, and read beyond the lines of your history books. And see why this Martial Law anniversary be remembered in a new prospective. The fall of a great ruler.. the fall of a great nation. And find it in your hearts the fire that would forge this nation into what it was before.. Maybe even better..”

NOTE: I don’t like Marcos.. I just hate Arroyo.. Why not elect me to be your next president instead? ^^

i have to disagree with you on this one...

marcos didn't care about the people. the reason why the philippines is so poor can be traced to his regime. he was too busy socializing and partying that he didn't even care to develop our industries. we basically got left behind by the rest of asia.

and as for no people being hurt during his time... that isn't true. in fact, so many people would just disappear from the street never to be found again. some corpses were recovered, some of them dragged to their death, many tortured, etc etc...

don't even get me started on what he did to the media.

our nation is STILL trying to recover from his rule. he corrupted the system. he's the main reason why everything doesn't work anymore.

[sorry, galit na galit talaga ako kay marcos... grr.]
